2 Assaults Investigated By Herndon Police

Herndon Police are investigating two assaults that took place in the town, one of which involved a man strangling someone he knew.

HERNDON, VA — Herndon Police are investigating two assaults that took place recently in the Town of Herndon, one of which involved a man strangling someone he knew, according to the weekly crime report.

In the first case, police arrested Pedro Victor Escudero Diaz, 36, of Herndon, on Sunday, March 8, and charged him with assaulting and strangling a victim who was known to him in the 1300 block of April Way. Police transported Diaz to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where his is being held without bond.

In the second care, a young man reported that another young man approached him in the 600 block of Dulles Park Court and demanded money. When the victim refused, the suspect assaulted him. This case remains under investigation.

During the weeks of March 2-8, and March 9-15, Town of Herndon officers issued 246 traffic summons, including one for driving while intoxicated, 23 for driving with no operators license, and 4 for driving on a suspended license.

There were 22 reportable traffic accidents in Herndon during those two weeks. Virginia State Police define "reportable crashes" as those that result in $1,500 in property damage and/or injury.
