5th-Grader Killed In Sri Lanka Blast: Report

A middle schooler who attended Sidwell Friends in D.C. was killed in the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka, according to a report. NBC Washington reports that the boy was among the 290 people killed and 500 wounded after terrorists targeted nine churches, luxury hotels, and other sites.

Suspected Armed Robber Plunges Car Into Potomac River: Report

D.C. and Arlington rescue crews responded after a car was reported in the Potomac River on Sunday night, and one media report indicated that it was an armed robber trying to elude police.

Tornado Struck Reston Town Center: NWS

Friday's tornado apparently hit the edge of Reston Town Center, according to the National Weather Service. The NWS completed its survey of the tornado in Reston and found that it started in south Reston near Fox Mill Road.

Alexandria Summer Metro Shutdown Extended To Sept. 8

Metro announced it will extend the summer Metro shutdown of the six Alexandria stations by a few days to address a structural issue at the Braddock Road Metro.
