VIRGINIA — Weis Markets in Virginia and six other states have recalled an ice cream product because the label doesn't list an egg allergen. On Thursday the grocery chain recalled its Weis Quality Banana Puddin Ice Cream (48 ounce) since a supplier error omitted the allergy notice. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs could suffer a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat the ice cream.

This product has been removed from sale, the grocery chain says. It was sold in 200 Weis Markets’ stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Delaware and West Virginia. There have been no reports of illness from customer’s consuming this product to date, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said in a news release.

The ice cream is packaged with a UPC of 041497-01305. All lot codes are affected. Customers who have purchased this product should discard it or return the recalled products to your store for a full refund.
