Herndon Appoints Human Resources Director

Tanya J. Kendrick begins her employment with the Town of Herndon on September 2.

The Town of Herndon has named Tanya J. Kendrick as director of Human Resources. Kendrick replaces Linda A. Simmons, who is retiring.

In her new post, Kendrick will be responsible for overall planning and organization of the town’s human resources management including recruitment, benefits administration, EEO, compensation, training, employee development, development and implementation of personnel policies, and related disciplines. She will be charged with the development of strategic human resources plans for the town that are reflective of trends in the public sector and are in accordance with the Herndon Town Council’s 2030 Vision, particularly its “Exceptional Service” tenant.

Kendrick will report directly to Town Manager Art Anselene and will serve as a member of the town’s management team.

Kendrick comes to the town following a 9.5-year tenure at ePlus, a Herndon-based technology company where she served in increasingly responsible roles, culminating in her post as manager of Human Resources. In that capacity, she oversaw resource management, recruitment, training, compensation, and employee and career development for the firm’s 950-plus employees. Prior to ePlus, she served as a recruitment assistant for Rockville, MD-based Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Kendrick holds a BS and Master’s degree in Business Administration, both from Loyola University, Baltimore, MD; she is also a certified Professional of Human Resources and a Certified Compensation Professional.

“Tanya brings the right mix of experience, capability and personality to her new role ,” said Anselene. “The town looks forward to building its exceptional employee base, particularly relative to our ‘Exceptional Service’ commitment, under her direction.”
