Herndon Could Get Snow Multiple Times Soon: Report

Friday's windstorm may have been a prelude to some wintry weather entering our area in the next seven to 10 days.

HERNDON, VA -- Not to say we told you so, but we did advise against putting that winter coat away just yet. And you may need it over the next week or so in Herndon, according to one forecast.

The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang says we could get snow multiple times over the next seven to 10 days, although it's still up in the air whether we actually will see any decent accumulation.

CWG says there is a cold and stormy pattern that provide multiple opportunities for snow over that period, and the D.C. area is "firmly on the bubble" when it comes to snow chances.

This pattern would be an especially good one if it happened in February, but because it is March there is not as much cold air that will make it tough for snow to accumulate.

The first snow chance hits us Tuesday night and into Wednesday, and it could result in "slushy accumulation," CWG says.

A second snow chance will arrive Thursday night and into early Friday. Sadly, CWG notes this is unlikely to give us accumulation. A third chance is on Saturday morning, but it's probably the weakest possibility of all of them.

Finally, a fourth chance on Sunday to Tuesday could be our best one.

"Some forecast models show this producing a ton of snow, especially in our colder areas well west of the Beltway (Loudoun and Frederick counties toward the Interstate 81 corridor)," CWG says, but added that there are still a "lot of questions marks about this event."
