Motorcyclist Injured in Collision With SUV

Sunday afternoon accident occurred on road in Great Falls: Fairfax County police.

A 24-year-old Herndon man has been hospitalized following a motorcycle crash on Sunday in Great Falls, according to the Fairfax County police.

The collision occurred at about 3 p.m. on River Bend Road. The man was riding his Suzuki motorcycle eastbound and attempted to pass a vehicle in front of him by crossing a double yellow line at the crest of a hill.

He collided with a Toyota RAV 4 SUV in the oncoming lane, police said. The other driver, an 81-year old McLean resident, was neither injured nor charged.

A helicopter flew the motorcyclist, who suffered life-threatening injuries, to Inova Fairfax Hospital, police said.
