Herndon Police Department Adjusts Services Due To Coronavirus
The Town of Herndon Police Department is changing how it takes reports from the public as part of its response to the coronavirus.

HERNDON, VA — In the interest of promoting public health and preserving public safety, the Herndon Police Department is adjusting how it's handling reports from the community, as part of its response to the new coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.
"Our officers will continue to respond accordingly to all emergencies," according to a release posted on the department's Facebook page. "However, in an effort to protect our officers and community, and to ensure a healthy and fully staffed police department, we will be taking some police reports over the phone moving forward."
Police are asking the public to call 703-435-6846 for non emergency situations. Rather than responding in person, officers may take reports and conduct follow-ups over the phone. For active and emergency situations, the public should call 9-1-1.
