Herndon Police Dog Retires After 6 Years Of Service
K9 Diesel is retiring for medial reasons after six years of service to the Herndon Police Department. He was deployed 179 times.

HERNDON -- After six years of service, K9 Diesel is retiring from the Herndon Police Department for medical reasons, according to a posts on the HPD's Facebook page and Twitter account.
K9 Diesel has served from Jan. 7, 2014 to Jan. 14, 2020, alongside his partner, Senior Officer Scott Stein. He was deployed 179 times for article searches, tracking, drug sniff and building/area searches, among other duties. During his career, he made five criminal apprehensions.
"Working the last six years as a K9 handler has been the most exciting part of my career," Stein said.

K9 Diesel will live out his retirement at home with Stein and his family, according to HPD public information specialist Lisa Herndon.
