Herndon's Austin Hamilton Plays in Capital Classic All Star Game
Hamilton finished the game with seven points and three assists
Herndon star guard Austin Hamilton added another memory to an already memorable senior season Sunday afternoon representing for Herndon at the 38th annual Capital Classic All Star game.
Hamilton finished the game with seven points and three assists and proved that he can compete with the top players in the country, despite his Capital All Stars team losing 136-115.
“Its unbelievable to be out here you know, all these guys are the best players in the country,” said Hamilton after the game. “For me to be selected to play in this game, it means a lot, it’s a tremendous honor.”

The game featured some of the top players from around the country like Jabarie Hinds of Mount Vernon, New York who is headed to West Virginia in the fall. Hinds took the MVP award of the game, finishing with 13 points and three rebounds.
Hamilton was one of just four Fairfax County high school players selected for the game. As he has done all year he displayed his unguardable step back high rising mid range jumper and ability to slash through defenders and find teammates for easy scoring opportunities.

Coming off a season in which he was selected as the Northern Region player of the year, selected first team all met and scored his 1000th career point, the Capital Classic all star game was a great way to end an impressive year by the 5’11” guard.
“All that hard work paid off,” said Hamilton reflecting on his four year varsity career with the Hornets. “I’m just truly blessed to have a great coach and good family members that push me, I’m just overwhelmed, and it’s a great feeling.”
He in the fall just last week, and the Capital Classic officially marks his last season as a high school athlete. He will try to follow in the footsteps of recent Herndon stud guard Scotty Reynolds who went on to have a brilliant career at Villanova University.
“I’m going to get in the gym as much as I can, hit the weight room a lot because at the next level there’s some big guys up there. I’m just going to work on my conditioning and stay in shape and try to take my game to the next level.”
