Huge Crane in Herndon to be Removed, Will Create Traffic Issues
Crews will spend several days disassembling the crane in the median of the toll road starting April 28.

HERNDON, VA — Work crews will be disassembling a large crane at the future Silver Line Herndon Metrorail station that is under construction starting later this month, and that will mean some traffic issues for a few days.
The crane is currently situated in the median of the Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH). Disassembly will take place between 10 p.m. on Friday, April 28 and Monday, May 1 at 5 a.m.
"This activity will detour eastbound traffic on the DIAAH to the eastbound Dulles Toll Road between the Centreville Road bridge and the Fairfax County Parkway overpass for the duration of the weekend," according to a statement from the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project. "Lane closures will also occur on the eastbound Dulles Toll Road (DTR) and the westbound DIAAH."

- Eastbound DTR traffic will be restricted to the two right lanes.
- Eastbound DIAAH traffic will return to the DIAAH at mile marker 4.0, just prior to the Fairfax County Parkway overpass and all lanes will be restored for eastbound DTR use.
