Jeanie Schmidt Free Clinic Merges with Community Health Center
Clinic will move back into the Town of Herndon.
The announced Tuesday that it is merging with the Loudoun Community Health Center to expand health care services to more people in need.
The Jeanie Schmidt Free Clinic has been serving Herndon and Fairfax County area residents in need for the past 10 years. The merger of the clinic with Community Health Center will allow the organizations to triple the number of people they serve in the next few years.
Nonprofit Jeanie Schmidt was founded in 2002 with a goal of providing care to children in need. The clinic has operated out of , then had an office on Grove Street before moving to a larger facility at .

The clinic announced in a press release on Tuesday that it will also move from Connections for Hope back into the Town of Herndon after the merger is completed in the fall. All current Jeanie Schmidt Free Clinic patients will be transferred to the new center without interruption in care.
About 300 volunteers and support from the community help the organizations serve about 2,000 adults and children.

The Loudoun Community Health Center is also a nonprofit, with two locations in Loudoun County, located in Leesburg and Sterling. The center has provided care to about 12,000 patients since it opened in 2006.
The Community Health Center has been awarded a federal grant as part of the Health Care Reform Act. The center ahs the ability to accept Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance, and serve patients from any geographic area.
The Loudoun Community Health Center can also provide additional services not currently offered by the Jeanie Schmidt Free Clinic, including prenatal and new baby care.
“I am happy to see these two organizations committing to expanding capacity to serve the uninsured in Fairfax County. There are many residents who need the quality care that Jeanie Schmidt and the Loudoun Community Health Center can provide,” said Sharon Bulova, Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, in a press release.
