Man Accused of Shooting at Cop Was Drunk and Waving a Stolen Gun in Herndon: Police
Brian Neftali Landaverde, 20, faces a litany of charges stemming from the Jan. 22 incident.

HERNDON, VA — The man who Fairfax County Police say tried to kill a police officer was drunk and waving a stolen gun when he was arrested by Herndon police last week.
Brian Neftali Landaverde, 20, faces a charge of attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer after police say he shot at a police cruiser Jan. 22 while fleeing. But it was his bizarre and reckless actions two days later that resulted in his arrest, according to a report from the Herndon Police Department released Tuesday.
Fairfax County Police launched a manhunt for the man involved in the Great Falls incident, but they didn't have to expend any resources: Herndon police ended up taking Landaverde in on Jan. 24 after getting a report that a man was displaying a handgun in the 1000 block of Elden Street, the report states.
