Pradip 4 Herndon Mayor Campaign Kicks Off with great Community Support

HERNDON, VA, May 23, 2024 — Last Saturday, May 18, Pradip Dhakal officially launched his campaign for Mayor of Herndon, drawing over 100 enthusiastic attendees to Arts Space Herndon. The event, held from 4 to 6 PM, was marked by significant endorsements from local and state leaders, underscoring Pradip's broad base of support and the community's desire for inclusive and representative leadership.

Among the distinguished guests were State Senator Saddam Salim, Former Mayor of Herndon Michael O’Reilly, Commonwealth Attorney Steve Descano, State Delegate Kannan Srinivasan, Herndon Councilman Cesar del Aguila, Councilwoman Donielle Scherff, and Virginia CD10 candidates Travis Nembhard and Adrian Pokhrel.

Each of these leaders took to the stage to express their support for Pradip, highlighting his proven track record and dedication to the community.

Ramesh Soma, Vice Chair of Herndon's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and current candidate for the town council, also addressed the crowd, showing his support for Pradip.

Another prospective candidate for the upcoming town council election, Kelvin Garcia, spoke in favor of Pradip’s mayoral candidacy as well.

Pradip, who has served on the Herndon Town Council for three consecutive terms, emphasized the importance of leadership that reflects the town's diverse population. "Herndon deserves a leader who can collaborate with everyone, foster open discussions for new ideas, and introduce initiatives to propel our town forward," Pradip stated. "I am committed to working tirelessly to make Herndon an even better place for all our residents."

The event showcased Pradip's vision for a united and forward-thinking Herndon. If elected, he would become the first mayor of color in the town’s 145-year history, marking a significant milestone for the community. His campaign has already garnered endorsements from a wide array of leaders, including State Senators Suhas Subramanyam, Stella Pekarsky, and Saddam Azlan Salim; State Delegates Sam Rasoul, Kannan Srinivasan, and Karen Keys Gamarra; Former State Delegate from Herndon Ibraheem Samirah, several Herndon Town Councilmembers, Former Mayor Mike O’Reilly, and Former Councilman Sean Regan.

Alex Rodriguez, a prominent Herndon volunteer and resident, remarked that Herndon would create new history by electing Pradip as the first mayor of color.

Former Mayor Mike O’Reilly expressed his happiness with Herndon's progress over the past few years and his hope that Pradip will become the town's first foreign-born mayor.

Longtime Herndon resident, volunteer, and humanitarian advocate Lorena Brady voiced her optimism about Pradip’s engagement in uplifting lives and his potential as mayor.

Herndon resident and Miss World Virginia, Surabhi Khanal, highlighted her working relationship with Pradip on various issues and expressed confidence in his leadership abilities.

Virginia AAPI leaders Shreedhar Nagareddy and Jack Tiwari also spoke briefly, showing their support for Pradip.

Randy and Karen Brown, residents of Herndon, noted that it was the most diverse political or community event they had ever witnessed and expressed their happiness about the inclusive atmosphere.
