Super Tuesday Results VA Democrats 2016: Clinton's Solid Win
Clear winner evident as polls closed for the Virginia 2016 Democratic Primary.
Virginia voters have helped build on Hillary Clinton's lead in the Democratic Presidential Primary, giving the candidate another Southern state win. The Associated Press and other media outlets called the state for Clinton as polls closed.
With 99 percent of precincts reporting in Virginia, Clinton had 64 percent of the vote. Sanders at 35 percent.
Clinton builds on momentum after a nearly 50-percent victory in South Carolina’s primary against Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
In other Super Tuesday primary states, Sanders is the projected winner in Vermont and Oklahoma. Clinton was projected to also win Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas.
States yet to be decided at 11 p.m.: Minnesota, Colorado and Massachusetts.

Clinton hosted rallies in Virginia on Monday and she has had high-profile surrogates campaigning in the state, particularly in the weeks since primary season voting began with the Iowa Caucus.
Sanders opened a Northern Virginia campaign office in January and has hosted large rallies in the state, including one in Manassas in September.

Clinton has been leading in the polls in Virginia. The number crunchers at fivethirtyeight.com note that results from Washington suburbs, in particular, will test how Clinton will perform in later primaries with more liberal Democrats.
According to FEC presidential campaign filings, Clinton has raised $3.2 million in Virginia, while Sanders has raised $552,500. That does not include money raised by outside groups.
