At 11 a.m., the participants in Rec-PAC will attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the most people making heartshaped hand gestures, says the Fairfax County Park Authority, which oversees the program. The children and staff members will rally against bullying by showing that “WE ALL HAVE HEART!”
Guinness World Records has approved this attempt at breaking the old record of 554 heartshapedhand gestures, the park authority says.

Rec-PAC (Pretty Awesome Children) is a six-week recreation program for elementary school children. “Last summer, over 4,000 kids played their way through weeks of healthy fun at Rec-PAC sites across the county,” the park authority said in announcing the event.
During the last week of Rec-PAC, campers traditionally take part in some special event to better their community. Projects have included writing letters to soldiers, cleaning up school areas and collecting food donations.
Setup for Thursday’s record-breaking event will begin at 10 a.m. at the Air & Space Museum’s annex, also known as the Udvar-Hazy Center, at 14390 Air and Space Museum Parkway, off Route 28 near Dulles Airport.
