Town Of Herndon Announces 2020 Election Results

HERNDON, VA — The Town of Herndon announced the results Friday of the Nov. 3 election to determine who will sit on the Town Council and be Herndon's mayor beginning Jan. 1, 2021.

Sheila A. Olem was elected mayor and will succeed Lisa C. Merkel, who did not seek reelection in 2020. Olem has been member of the Town Council since 2010, serving most recently as vice mayor, and will serve a two-year term.

The six individuals elected to serve on the Town Council are: Naila Alam, Cesar A. del Aguila, Pradip Dhakal, Signe V. Friedrichs, Sean M. Regan, and Jasbinder Singh. Of these six, Del Aguila, Dhakal, Friedrichs, and Singh have all served on earlier Town Councils.

Fairfax County, which administers elections for the Town of Herndon, is expected to officially certify the results on Nov. 16.
