At that time, a 2003 Toyota sedan driven by Alfred Jorge Guillen Escobari of Sterling struck the rear of a police cruiser, causing it to strike the rear of a second police car at the scene, the police report said.
The momentum from the initial impact caused the second cruiser to move forward, striking both officers.
The driver who was pulled over in the initial traffic stop, John B. St. Pierre, 44, of Vienna, was charged with driving while intoxicated, police said. Escobari, 23, was also charged with DWI.
