HERNDON, VA -- The Center for Innovative Technology campus in Herndon may soon have a new owner, according to news reports.

In a Dec. 17, 2019 report to the Virginia General Assembly, the Virginia Department of General Services revealed it was negotiating final terms of the sale agreement with an as yet unnamed buyer, according to the Washington Business Journal.

DGS began negations around Thanksgiving, according to a report dated Jan. 2, but not posted to the legislature's website until Tuesday, Feb. 4.

"On November 27, 2019, DGS notified, then began discussions, with a single offeror that provided the most favorable offer to the Commonwealth," the report says. "A draft Purchase and Sale Agreement was sent to the offeror on December 17, 2019, and is now being negotiated."

Currently, the property has two tenants. The first is the Northern Virginia Technology Council, which has a lease that expires on June 30, 2022. The second tenant, whose premises contains a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF), plans to take a three-year tenant extension option on its current lease, which expires on July 31, 2022, allowing it to stay until July 31, 2025.
