Herndon's H.K. Lee Academy hosts competition

Children and adults, boys and girls, women and men packed South Lakes High School's gym last Saturday at the National Captial Open Tae Kwon Do Championship.

Tae kwon do participants came from schools near and far to compete in the event and everyone was welcome to participate, from every skill level. Many at the event went home with trophies for their successes, and the stands were filled with parents, students and other spectators.

The annual event was hosted and organized by Herndon's H.K. Lee Academy of Tae Kwon Do. Grandmaster Lee began holding the event in 1979 to promote the art of tae kwon do in America. The academy has been serving Herndon-area families since 1973.
