Herndon Readers Share Snow Photos Of First Winter Storm Of 2022
We asked our readers in Herndon to share photos of the first major snowstorm of 2022.

HERNDON, VA — Winter storms can be dangerous and make things difficult for people who aren't used to dealing with so much snow. You can cause seriously harm to yourself by shoveling too strenuously and be a danger to others if you try to drive on icy roads.
Usually, the best thing to do during a winter storm is to stay put, wrap yourself in a blanket and sip your favorite hot beverage, while waiting for the weather to pass.
But, if you decide to tempt fate and go outside, be careful. Also, bring your cellphone or a camera so you can share photos. That's the other thing about winter storms. They make everything look so beautiful.

A tranquil tapestry is being created for us by nature today, perhaps to welcome the first working day of the new year. While it is necessary to stay off the roads, this is an opportunity to step outside (safely) and take a moment to soak in the almost monochromatic simplicity of a wintry landscape. The Frying Pan Farm this morning was one such perfect canvas of quiet serenity. — Peter DSouza, Herndon
