Center for the Arts’ Rooftop Productions presents An Evening of One-Act Comedies at the Candy Factory

The Center for the Arts’ Rooftop Productions presents An Evening of One-Act Comedies at the Candy Factory on Saturday, June 15 at 8pm.  For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls written by Christopher Durang is a modern day parody of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie.  A fading southern belle, Amanda, (Lori Muhlstein), tries to prepare her son, Lawrence (Greg Crowe), for a female caller.  Lawrence is a hypochondriac who has a passion for collecting glass swizzle sticks.  Greg Powell and Holly Czuchna round out the cast as Tom and Ginny in this madcap comedy.  For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls is directed by award winning actor and director Ted Ballard.

A Blooming of Ivy by Garry Williams and directed by Sallie Willows features actors Mona Kay Helper and Larry Keeling as Ivy Taylor and George Thomas.  Ivy is a widow of 20 years and has been friends with George since high school.  George is a recent widower and owns the farm next door.  When George appears at Ivy’s door with unexpected thoughts of a late in life romance, Ivy’s reaction makes this a delightful romantic comedy you will want to see.

Rooftop Productions’ An Evening of One-Act Comedies at the Candy Factory performs, Saturday, June 15 at 8pm at the Kellar Theater at the Center for the Arts at the Candy Factory, 9419 Battle St., Manassas.  Tickets are $10 and available online at www.center-for-the-arts.org.
