Traditional Japanese cuisine is very oriented towards seafood (sushi, sashimi), rice (sticky rice for sushi, fried rice), radishes and cabbages, and soy bean paste (miso) soups. Breakfast can be that traditional favorite - fermented bean sprouts (definitely an acquired and so far to my knowledge not an exported taste). Lunch is often a Bento Box - meaning a compartment box lunch made "To Go" and consists of tempura dipped items, rice or fish cakes and sushi or sashimi. It can be YakiSoba (fried noodles), or cold wheat noodles, or Udon soup. Snacks can be octopus dipped in batter, or dried squid or fish. Dinner is often larger portions and accompanied by appropriate drink to finish off the meal. Entrees include Katsu (breaded pork) and fish dishes.
At Bento Café Sushi and Roll you can have part of the traditional experience of Japan - with sushi (cooked and raw items) and sashimi (raw fish) or more Americanized favorites like a Teriyaki Chicken Dinner, or lunch bowl special.
The Ramen and Udon are great for a warm soup on a cold winters day.
