Community Corner

Prince William Art Society Meeting

"Getting Loose With Watercolor"

The Prince William Art Society meets at the Canterbury Woods Community Center in Lake Ridge, on the third Wednesday of most months.

In March members and guests will enjoy a watercolor demonstration by Fine Artist Mike Flynn. Mr. Flynn will paint while he discusses his own discovery over the years of the elements which add enjoyment to his own painting experience and excitement to his paintings. He has come to enjoy painting with more paint, bigger brushes, a variety of brush-strokes and more attention paid to value differences, and would like to share some of this sense of freedom with us.

Mr. Flynn paints most often with watercolor, heavy body acrylic and pen and ink with watercolor washes, and enjoys "trying the styles of past and present watercolor artists in an effort to expand my knowledge and skills with the medium." He is a member of ArtBeat and p-ART-ners, a plein air artists' group, and has won awards and participated in juried exhibits throughout Virginia. His work can be viewed at:  http://www.mikeflynnart.com/
