3 Clerks Caught Selling Alcohol To Buyers Under 21 In Loudoun
Three clerks at convenience stores in western Loudoun were caught by police selling alcohol to buyers under the age of 21.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office caught three clerks who sold alcohol to buyers under the age of 21 Friday night as part of an underage alcohol sales operation in the western part of the county. During the operation, police officers saw underage buyers attempt to purchase alcohol at 21 retail locations in western Loudoun.
The three clerks sold to underage buyers at the new 7-Eleven in the Catoctin Corner shopping center in Purcellville, the 7-Eleven at 610 W. Main Street near the Loudoun Golf and Country Club in Purcellville, and the Vino 9 Market on Route 9 near Clarks Gap in Paeonian Springs.
The three clerks were issued a summons under Virginia law and were charged with one count of selling alcoholic beverages to a person less than 21 years of age, a Class 1 misdemeanor. The Looudoun County Sheriff's Office coordinated with the Purcellville Police Department on operations inside the town limits.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office conducted a similar operation on Jan. 31 involving vaping following the passage of a new Virginia law that took effect in July 2019. In that underage vaping operation, the sheriff's office charged six clerks with selling JUUL pods to customers under the age of 21. The sheriff's office visited 33 retail vaping locations in the Ashburn Station area.
The sheriff's office said it will continue to conduct similar underage operations over the next few months.
