The fire marshal's office determined that the fire was accidental due to an appliance malfunction on a kitchen countertop. The home was equipped with smoke alarms that were sounding when emergency personnel arrived on the scene.

No humans were injured in the blaze, but four dogs and one person were displaced by the fire.

The fire marshal's office estimated that the home sustained $158,400 in damages.
