Second Mount Olive Baptist Church, Hamilton, VA is having an “All Night Prayer Service” on Friday, August 26 at 6:00 pm through Saturday, August 27 at 6:00 am. This is a special time for us to set aside time out of our busy schedules to worship and give praises to our Heavenly Father. It is truly an honor where we can be in the presence of the One who rules all creation.

The all night service will consist of Scripture reading, testimony, singing and praying.

Prayer allows us to show loving admiration, praises, and worshipping the Lord for who He is. It brings us into obedience with the word of God as stated in Luke 18:1 and 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV), "men ought to always to pray" and "pray without ceasing." Prayer is the responsibility of every born again believer. Psalm 34:1 (KJV) states, “I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

Prayer enables us to hear the voice of the Lord and receive direction that will enable us to become powerful spiritual warriors. Prayer acknowledges the Lord and he can direct our paths and order our steps. Prayer builds a hedge of protection around us. It gives us power and dominion over the works of the enemy.

Prayer grants us the opportunity to present our requests to God, and we are asking God for healing for all the nations of the earth. All of these aspects of prayer involves communication with our Creator. He is personal, cares for us, and wants to commune with us through prayer. As stated in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “…..if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

As for the troubles around the world today, prayer is needed and we can call upon the Lord to grant us POWER over this evil world. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12).

Prayer is a Powerful Communication with God!

Second Mount Olive Baptist Church located in Hamilton, Virginia was founded in 1892. The congregation desires to exalt God and encourage Christians toward spiritual maturity. Also to represent Christ in the earth, that through Him the world might be saved, with the final source of authority, in faith, doctrine, life, discipline and practice, being the Holy Bible; and the government and ruling of the Church be that as set forth in the New Testament.
