UPDATE: No Abduction Attempted In Round Hill: Police

A reported abduction attempt in Round Hill did not occur, according to an update from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — An attempted abduction did not occur, as was originally reported to police, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said on Wednesday.

A teenage girl told police that she was walking in the area of Main Street and High Street around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21. In the original report, authorities said the girl was approached by an unknown man.

An original report indicated that the man attempted to abduct the girl. However, in an update published on Wednesday afternoon, the sheriff's office said no physical contact was made.

"The juvenile teenaged female did have contact with a driver who asked her for gas money but at no time did he attempt to assault or harm her," the sheriff's office said.

Authorities thanked the public for their assistance in the investigation. The sheriff's office did not provide further information about the nature of the original report. They also did not say whether there would be any charges for filing a false report.
