Au pairs: Flexible, Affordable Childcare

Choosing the right child care option can be a difficult task. Options range from daycare to live-in caretakers, and with them come varying price points, flexibility and personality fits. Hosting an au pair is one option that often passes families by when they are thinking about child care. An au pair is child caregiver from a different country who live with local families (host families) and provide 45 hours of flexible childcare per week in exchange for room and board and a weekly stipend.

Au pairs come from around the world, and offer a unique cultural exchange with their host families. They also offer an affordable alternative to the expense of child care. At $360 per week plus room and board, regardless of the number of children they are caring for.
