UPDATE: Photo Of Leesburg Bank Robbery Suspect Released By Police

Authorities in Leesburg have released a photo of a man accused of robbing a bank in Leesburg on Friday afternoon.

LEESBURG, VA — A bank robbery was reported in Leesburg on Friday evening, according to an update from the Leesburg Police Department. Authorities said the robbery occurred in the 300 block of E. Market Street at the M&T Bank.

Now, authorities are asking for help identifying the man, who is described as a white man in his 50s.

In an update, the Leesburg Police Department said the robbery occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Friday. "The suspect presented a note to the teller demanding cash and implied that he had a weapon, however no weapon was displayed," the police department said. "An undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency was given to the suspect."

The suspect then fled the area on foot. Authorities searched the area, but they were unable to locate the man.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 50s, who is approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighs about 175 pounds, and has gray hair that is parted. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black jacket, black hooded sweatshirt, and a black gaiter style facemask.
