It's that time of year again, and it's as exciting as ever! This year we kicked-off reading the Bible from Genesis to The Book of Revelation at noon on April 28th. The Bible Reading Marathon takes place on the marathon site at the Loudoun Awakening tent positioned on North King Street on the north side of the Law Library. The readings will proceed until midnight each evening and renew at 6:00 AM each morning until Thursday, May 3rd, when the marathon concludes at noon, to coordinate with the National Day of Prayer.

People have asked about the value of a public reading of the Word of God. There is great Old Testament precedent for the recognition in that great book-centered worship service reported in Nehemiah 8:8, “They [the priests] read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly, and they gave it sense so that the people understood the reading.”

Our earnest desire is to reveal to our community the powerful Word of God. The Bibles transforming power is guaranteed. Jesus Christ set the example of how important the Word was to Him and should be to us. When tempted by Satan, Jesus quoted the Word. “Man does not live by bread alone; but by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” – Matthew 4:4 and Deuteronomy 8:3.

National Day of Prayer May 3rd

Join Priests, Pastors, elected officials, business leaders and community leaders for brunch before the National Day of Prayer event from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at the Gazebo outside of Ida Lee Park.

Brett Fuller, Chaplain for the Washington Redskins and Pastor at Grace Covenant Church will emcee the Leesburg event featuring prayers and proclamations. Join the tradition of great presidents and leaders throughout American history who have asked for God’s blessing for our country in times of need.

This is a great opportunity to meet leaders outside of your own sphere.

Ida Lee Park is located off N. King Street, 1/2 mile north of downtown Leesburg.

God bless Loudoun County.
