Blossom and Bloom Thrift Shop, located in Historic Downtown Leesburg, VA, is pleased to announce their 2014-2015 supporting-fund allocations. Recent monies in the amount of $45,500 were awarded to several non-profits in our area. This year’s recipients include $20,000 each to ECHO and The Arc of Loudoun as well as to other services supporting persons with disabilities such as Very Special Arts, A Place To Be, the Frederick Mission, Maggie’s Closet and The Homeless Trailer Campaign through the Arc Of Loudoun.
The Arc of Loudoun was organized to advocate for persons with disabilities by promoting individual support and equitable participation with their non-disabled peers in all aspects of community life, including education, residence, vocation and healthcare. The goal is to secure the full range of human and civil rights for children and adults with disabilities.
ECHO supports people with disabilities, assists them to realize their potential and achieve their goals. These efforts include adapted, quality transportation where participants are transported to various locations throughout Northern Virginia for jobs. The ECHO workforce, along with a site supervisor/trainer addresses employer needs in areas such as product and production assembly, order fulfillment, mail preparations, grounds-keeping, paper shredding, administrative assistance, retail assistance and document scanning.
