Knicely Jazz Trio concert July 17

The Bluemont Concert Series is celebrating 40 years of performances this summer! Come and see the Knicely Jazz Trio on Sunday, July 17th for the fourth of six Sunday evening concerts in Leesburg, Virginia. The concert begins at 7:00 PM, and is held at Old Loudoun Courthouse, located at 18 East Market St. in historic, downtown Leesburg.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and a picnic to enjoy before the show. Admission is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends and seniors, $2 for kids under 12; proceeds go to support Bluemont’s year-round Artist-in-Education program in area schools. As at all Bluemont concerts, no pets, alcohol or smoking are allowed. In bad weather, the concerts will be held indoors at the Leesburg United Methodist Church Asbury Hall, located at 107 West Market Street.

The Knicely Jazz Trio Features Danny Knicely on mandolin, Bert Carlson on guitar, and Aimee Curl on Bass. Known to be genre jumpers, the trio takes us on an adventure through jazz, swing, blues, rock, and bluegrass. These musicians have played with a wide variety of artists ranging from Doc Watson to Wynton Marsalis, but this performance is centered around the lovely singing of Aimee Curl from Furnace Mountain Band.

This is a collaboration of three versatile musicians with each bringing their own distinct style to the project. Their musical talents and tastes are wide as shown here in the variety of styles including bluegrass, jazz, old-time, swing, and Latin music. With so many ways to learn in this day and age, these musicians learned these songs the old fashioned way, from each other. This comes through in the uniqueness of the arrangements and the material they perform.
