Business Co-Owner Arrested in Leesburg

Richard Cruze, 55, was arrested on Feb. 2 for falsifying documents and other forms of fraud.

Leesburg resident Richard Cruze, 55, has been arrested after he falsified documents to show that he was a doctor and a highly decorated military veteran with the rank of Colonel.

According to M.P. Officer Christopher Tidmore, the Leesburg Police Department received a complaint on Jan. 24 that Cruze, part owner of “Madame et Monsieur”, located at 201 #F Royal St SE in Leesburg, may have been committing several frauds.  

Patrol officers turned over a case to the Criminal Investigative Section when detectives discovered the suspect had falsified documents to DMV and possibly to other state agencies. Enough evidence was uncovered  to charge Richard Cruze, AKA “Jake Cruze” with one count each of the following:

1.      18.2-502.1 - Advertise or use in a weight loss center or clinic’s name the word physician or doctor

2.      18.2-168 - Forge a public record

3.      18.2-168 – Utter or attempt to employ as true a forged record

4.      46.2-605 – Make false statement on an application for certificate of title issued by DMV.

Cruze was arrested on Feb. 2, taken before a magistrate and was held with no bond. As of Feb. 7 Cruze remains in custody at the Loudoun County Detention Center .
