Centreville family Recognized for Good Citizenship and Display of flag

Good citizenship and patriotism by the Scott Brown family of Centreville was rewarded Monday with presentation of a SAR Good Citizenship Medal and a Certificate for Exemplary Patriotism in the display of the Flag of the United States.
The Citation for Good Citizenship read: "For extraordinary concern for and support of their aging neighbors. On multiple occasions The Scott Brown family cleared snow from driveways and sidewalks with no expectation of compensation. This activity has taken place over several years and for several neighbors of the Browns. In addition, during high winds the Browns take action to secure trash containers, so they are not blown over or blown away from the front of homes. These selfless actions are examples of the American Spirit of helping those who are unable to help themselves, and an example of what Good Citizenship is all about."
To receive a SAR Flag Certificate, one must light the flag when dark, or take it down at dusk and not raise it before dawn. Further, one must replace the flag when it is worn, torn, or soiled. The Browns light their flag after dark and replace it when required.
