Chief Daniel Neal of Loudoun Fire & Rescue presented SAR Fire Safety Commendation Medal

Daniel Neal, Loudoun County Battalion Chief, Fire and Rescue, was presented the Sons of the American Revolution Fire Safety Commendation Medal and Certificate on Monday, December 22. The presentation was made by Barry Schwoerer, President of the Loudoun County based Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter, Virginia Society Sons of the American Revolution. The presentation recognized outstanding contributions to public safety as demonstrated by the following summary of action:

"Since 2020, Chief Neal has served as the fire and rescue leader of the Loudoun County High Threat Team. This is a joint team of the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, and the Leesburg Police. The mission of the team began to prepare for the joint response to acts of violence, but expanded to fostering trust, relationships, and integration between fire and rescue and its law enforcement partners. In addition to building county-wide joint active shooter training and exercises, Chief Neal led the High Threat Team to develop unified command training, Police/Fire 101 Familiarization Training, and response to a fire at a weapon incident. Loudoun County has become a national leader in honing the joint fire and law enforcement response to active shooter incidents. Chief Neal also serves as the co-chair of the Northern Virginia Emergency Response System High Threat Committee. Lead by Chief Neal, The Loudoun County High Threat Team received the Virginia Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Fire Service, National Association of Counties Achievement Award, and the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System Recognition Award."
