Loudoun Fire And Rescue Personnel Save 2 Children From Storm Pipe In Leesburg
Loudoun County Fire and Rescue personnel on Tuesday rescued two children from a storm pipe in Leesburg.
LEESBURG, VA — Loudoun County Fire and Rescue personnel on Tuesday rescued two children from a storm pipe in Leesburg, the department said Wednesday.
At about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the Loudoun County Emergency Communications Center received a call from the 42000 block of Victory Lane reporting a child stuck in a storm water pipe, according to the department.
Loudoun County Fire and Rescue units from Leesburg and command staff were dispatched to the area where the children were trapped in a 16-inch-diameter storm water pipe.

The Fire and Rescue Units could not see the children, but were able to determine they were conscious and unable to escape from the pipe, the department said.
First responders who specialize in confined space rescue operations, including personnel from Fairfax County, arrived on the scene. After losing verbal contact with the children, Loudoun Fire and Rescue sent a rescuer into the storm pipe to make contact with the children and remove them, the department said.

The two children were safely removed by 3:25 p.m. and taken to a nearby emergency department for evaluation.
