Iglesia del Avivamiento worship team's name is RE7MA, which is pronounced rhema. At first, the name may not make much sense but it is because each part of their name has spiritual significance. The first part (RE) is a prefix: one that is part of many words that belong to God’s redemptive work for humankind. (Redemption, REsurrection, Rebirth, Revival). The middle part of the name is 7. They have included it because it is a symbol for God’s work, which is always perfect and complete. For example, He made the heavens and the earth in 7 days. The whole creation was created in 7 days and God said that it was all good.
Similarly, in the book of Revelation, we learn that God will pour out his perfect judgement on earth with seven seals, seven trumpets and seven cups. At the end of this time of tribulation, God will recreate the entire cosmos; thus, completing his redemptive work that His Son began once and for all. Lastly, the pronunciation of the band’s name is rhema which is a Greek word that signifies the Spirit’s utterances to the hearts of those who read the logos, the written Word of God. It is when the Spirit reveals His word to God’s children.
Pastor Salvador Henriquez is the senior pastor and founder of Iglesia del Avivamiento (Revival Church). Born and raised in the country of El Salvador, Pastor Henriquez received the call to the ministry during his youth. During his 17 years as pastor in El Salvador, he planted six churches while still pastoring his first church plant. He has always had a passion for preaching the gospel, leading evangelism efforts and outreach events in the poorest parts of the country.
In 2001, the Lord called him to the United States and gave him the vision to plant a Hispanic church in Loudoun County. That vision came to fruition in 2004 with the founding of Iglesia del Avivamiento. Pastor Salvador has been married for 28 years to his lovely wife Cecilia who has helped him since the beginning of his ministry. He serves the Lord in Leesburg alongside his three sons Adriel, Moises and Pablo.
The Message - “Convictions for Revival”, Pastor Salvador Henriquez
A summary of Pastor Salvador Henriquez’s message is as follows:
In this time and age, the church is in need of revival. Long gone are the spiritual movements that marked generations and changed nations. The ones we hear about are located in the faraway lands of Africa, South America or Asia. What can we do to get prepared for revival? What kind of change is needed for revival to come? I believe God helped me answer this question. He answered by speaking to me about convictions. What is a conviction? It is a firmly held belief. It is to be completely sure of what we say, and what we preach and what we believe. The three convictions that we need to strengthen are the belief in God, the belief in the power of the Church and the belief in miracles.
Believing in God is the most basic, the most important conviction that any Christian should have. Without believing firmly in God, we have nothing but a shell of the Christian faith. We have to be convinced that the God whom we worship is good. That He is all-powerful and all-good. That He knows what He is doing for He sees the big picture. We have to be convinced that He can work for good for those who trust in Him even though death or sickness or problems may flood our lives. Let’s be convinced that He is in control. We have to be convinced that His Son, Jesus Christ, came to earth to die for our sins. We have to be convinced that he rose again on the third day. That should cause joy in our hearts for our God is not dead. His bones are not resting on this planet’s surface. Our master is seated at the right hand of God. He is alive. All the words of prophecy that predicted his life and death came true. Why would we doubt that one day we will see Him face to face? Why would we doubt that He is coming again to establish His kingdom on earth? We have to be convinced that His Holy Spirit is with us. It was to our advantage for the Lord’s ascension because He sent us His Holy Spirit who dwells inside us. The Spirit is responsible for the signs and wonders that accompany the proclamation of the gospel. He is the one who calls people to Him. We may have strength to preach and sing for countless days; however, only the Spirit can convince people of the truthfulness of the gospel. It is He the only One who can change the heart of humankind.
For revival to come, God told me that we also have to be convinced of the power of the Church. The Church is the answer to this world’s problems. Are you convinced of that? If we are not convinced of that, then that means our faith in the Church has diminished. The Bible says that the Church was chosen in Him in love to be made holy and blameless. The Bible says that the immeasurable greatness of His power, the same power that rose Jesus from the dead, resides in the Church. The Bible says that God gave the Church His Son; and his Son is no ordinary person. God has given Him the authority over all creation. Believe firmly that you are the answer to this world’s problem. Believe that you, the Church of Christ, are chosen to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, heal the sick, bring liberty to the oppressed and assist anyone in need. A church made out of a single person may not make a big impact in the world; however, a community of believers can make a difference. Be convinced that there is power in the Church, a supernatural power that comes from God and from unity.
The last belief that we must firmly hold onto is belief in miracles. There is power in unity; notwithstanding, any other faith community can find power in unity. There is a greater power that comes from God. As the Church of Loudoun County, we have to believe that God can work miracles today. If we believe in the God of the Bible, then, naturally we are going to believe in miracles. The same God who raised the dead, who opened the eyes of the blind, who restored the legs of the lame and who untangled the tongues of mutes is living today. Are you convinced that the He is the God of yesterday, today and tomorrow? Are you convinced that He has the power to work those same miracles today in the midst of his Church? We have witnessed miracles happening in our congregation. I firmly believe that He can work a miracle in your life.
Are you convinced of who your God is? Do you truly believe that the Church is the answer to this world’s problems? Are you certain that He can work a miracle in your life today? Be convinced because God rewards those who believe and come to seek Him. I am certain that He wants to bring revival to this county. I am convinced that my God is alive and He wants to do things that eyes have not seen and ears have not heard. Those are the things He has prepared for you.
