The Short Hill Historical Society is a non-profit organization in its 41st year. Initially formed as the Hillsboro Community Association in 1976, it saved the Old Stone School in Hillsboro from being demolished. For 40 years, it focused on the Old Stone School by making restorations and improvements, raising funds to protect and restore the historic building, managing the building and its uses, and hosting events to bring the community together and showcase the history and talent of our area. After 40 successful years with the Old Stone School, the non-profit is turning its attention to protecting and restoring other historic landmarks in the Short Hill region, and has changed its name to reflect its renewed focus on its original charter. The Short Hill Historical Society has retained one of its signature events, the Christmas in Hillsboro Historic Homes Tour, while hosting lectures and other efforts that continue to celebrate and communicate the rich history of the Short Hill region and undertaking restoration and preservation efforts. Donations are welcome and tax-deductible, as the Short Hill Historical Society is a 501(c)3.
