Fire Damages Leesburg Home

The incident occurred Thursday afternoon due to electrical issues inside

A mobile home, located at 41 Leesburg Mobile Park, has been destroyed after it caught fire shortly after 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6.

Public Affairs Officer Mary Maguire said Fire and Rescue units from Leesburg, Lansdowne, Ashburn, Hamilton and Moorefield arrived on scene to find fire and heavy smoke coming from one end of the mobile home.

Firefighters attempted an interior attack, but due to the rapidly spreading fire and deteriorating conditions, the firefighters were forced to evacuate the structure and fight the fire from the exterior of the home.

As a result of the fire, two adults and one child have been displaced and will be staying with nearby relatives. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the family as needed. 

Maguire said no one was home at the time of the blaze however two firefighters was transported to the Cornwall Campus of INOVA Loudoun Hospital for minor injuries sustained at the scene.

The fire, which was accidental due to electrical issues, resulted in an estimated $54,000 damage to the mobile home.
