Former Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel Joins Boulder Crest Retreat for Military and Veteran Wellness Honorary Advisory Board

Chuck Hagel served as the 24th Secretary of Defense, being in office from February 2013 - February 2015, and also served two terms in the U.S. Senate. Now, he’s taking on a new role in continuing to defend our country and protect our principals, by focusing on the country’s military veterans. Boulder Crest Retreat for Military Veteran Wellness announces that Chuck Hagel has joined the honorary advisory board.

“I am honored by the involvement of our Honorary Advisory Board and the addition of Secretary Hagel,” says Ken Falke, chairman and founder of Boulder Crest Retreat. “With over 50 years of public service, including time with the U.S. Senate, the Department of Veterans Affair, and the USO, I cannot think of better experience to be able to draw from. It makes me very happy to add Secretary Hagel to our august group.”

Hagel is the only Vietnam veteran and the first enlisted combat veteran to serve as Secretary of Defense. He represented Nebraska during his two terms in the U.S. Senate, which was from 1997-2009. His experience also includes having served in numerous board positions, and he was a distinguished professor at Georgetown University.

Secretary Hagel joins the Honorary Advisory board next to: former Secretary of the Navy, John Lehman, two former Chairman’s of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General (retired) Henry ‘Hugh’ Shelton, USA, General (retired) Peter Pace, USMC, Admiral (retired) William Fallon, USN, General (retired) Norton Schwartz, former NFL star and Vietnam veteran, Rocky Bleier and Medal of Honor recipient and Master Sergeant (ret) Leroy Petry.
