George Washington's life as a young man commemorated at Winchester
Maj John Champe Chapter VA SAR Honored George Washington's early life at his office in Winchester on his 292nd birthday on Wednesday
The 292nd birthday of George Washington was cause for celebration at Washington's office in Old Town Winchester on Wednesday, 22 February. Hosted by the Colonel James Wood II Chapter the commemoration focused on Washington's life as a young man, surveyor, business man, Colonial Soldier, and leader of the Virginia militia as Colonel Washington during the French and Indian War. The commemoration was attended by Virginia SAR members from the Culpeper Minutemen Chapter, Colonel Fielding Lewis Chapter, and the Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter as well as the host chapter, Colonel James Wood II. Dr. Michael Weyler, 1st Vice President of Virginia SAR gave greetings on behalf of Virginia SAR President Bill Greaf. Representing the Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter of Loudoun County was President Barry Schwoerer who presented the Chapter wreath and carried the chapter flag in Color Guard and presentation of Colors.
