Hop With a Cop at Pump It Up
Each Wednesday, now through the end of January, families are invited to interact with the Leesburg Police while raising funds for Law Enforcement Explorer Post 1041.

The and kicked off a one month fundraiser last week for Law Enforcement Explorer Post 1041, a worksite-based program for young men and women, which helps to gain insight into a variety of programs that offer hands-on career activities.
Every Wednesday night, now thru January 25, families are invited to meet an officer from the Leesburg Police Department while bouncing the night away.

General Manager JoAnn Walker said Tuesday that Pump It Up hosts several fundraiser's every year. This particular idea came from her daughter, Walker said, who is a current member of the post.
“My daughter wants to be a police officer when she grows up," Walker said, which is how they found out about the post's program. Shortly after her daughter joined, Walker said she learned about an upcoming trip to Colorado where members of the post will compete against others from across the nation, this summer.

“This is a way for them to raise money so that they can go,” Walker said.
Master Police Officer Christopher Tidmore said this is the first time the post has had the opportunity to participate in a fund-raiser like this. In addition to interacting with a cop, children will have the chance to explore the inside of a police cruiser while asking the officer questions.
Walker said last week’s first event was quite successful and just under $400 was raised, That money will be split 70/30, she said, which should allow each member to travel this summer.
“It’s an awesome program for our kids. I just think it’s a great thing to be able to give back and it goes directly to our town,” Walker said. “Besides that, kids are all cooped up, it’s cold, they can’t go out and play and Pump It Up is warm. We’ll wear them out."
The next fundraiser event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, Jan. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. Children must be at least two years old and 34 inches to bounce. Admission is $7 per child, adults are free. Socks and a signed waiver are a must. Pump It Up is located at 73 Lawson Road, SE, in Leesburg. Call 703-443-1400.
