Independence Day Open House & Ice Cream Social

Come celebrate the Fourth of July at the George C. Marshall House! Enjoy old fashioned ice cream while playing fun lawn games!

What better way to celebrate July the Fourth than with a post-parade Ice Cream Social on the lush grounds of one of Leesburg’s most venerable historic sites? In addition to ice cream there will be free tours of the General’s home and outdoor lawn games such as badminton, croquet, and horseshoes.

The Marshall House, the former residence of General George C. Marshall, will celebrate July the Fourth by opening its grounds to the public immediately following the Town of Leesburg’s July Fourth Parade. From 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, the public may enjoy some old-fashioned ice cream and lawn games, touring the first floor of the General's historic home as well.

In addition, the community and visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the beautifully-displayed gardens of General George Marshall and his wife, Katherine, and to learn more about his contributions to world history. Mrs. Marshall's blooming roses and the General's ripe vegetables exhibit a simple life of one of America's greatest patriots.
