Inova Loudoun Hospital Offering “Ask the Expert” Lecture on April 17

As part of its free “Ask the Expert” lecture series, Inova Loudoun Hospital will host Coping with Sensory Processing Disorders on Monday, April 17 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Is your child overly sensitive or under reactive to touch, movement, sights or sounds? Is he or she easily distracted or seem to always be disorganized? These are a few common signs of a sensory processing issue. When children have difficulties receiving and processing incoming sensations, everyday tasks can be challenging.

Join Occupational Therapist Kacie Demetros and Child Life Specialist Allyson Halverson for an informative lecture on sensory integration. Learn practical tips and strategies to help children with sensory needs better cope with day-to-day experiences – at home, in the classroom, in a medical setting, and out in the community. Also learn how occupational therapy can help children to better develop the sensory skills needed to thrive.
