As part of its free “Ask the Expert” lecture series, Inova Loudoun Hospital will host two lectures in May –“Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery” on Wednesday, May 8 and “Everything You Need to Know About Atrial Fibrillation (AFib)” on Tuesday, May 21. Both lectures will be from 6 – 7:30 p.m.

The average person will experience an episode of significant back pain at some point during their lifetime. While most patients will recover with minimal time away from work or impact to their daily lives, about 10 percent of patients will need additional care from a physician who specializes in spine surgery. In some cases, minimally invasive spine surgery may be recommended. These procedures yield smaller incisions and allow the patient to go home the same day as the surgery. Come meet Inova Loudoun Hospital’s new board-certified neurosurgeon, Dr. Anje Kim, to learn more about minimally invasive spine surgery. The lecture will be held at Inova Loudoun Medical Campus - Leesburg (Cornwall), 224-D Cornwall Street, 1st Floor, Leesburg. Free on-site parking is available.

Have you or a loved one experienced an irregular heartbeat or been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation (AFib)? If so, you’re not alone. An estimated 2.7 million Americans are living with AFib which can lead to blood clots, stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications. Join Electrophysiologist Dr. Chirag Sandesara to learn more about the causes, symptoms and treatment options available for irregular heartbeats and rhythms. The AFib lecture will be held at Inova Loudoun Hospital – Physician's Office Building, 44055 Riverside Parkway, Suite 110, Leesburg. Follow signs for the South Hospital Entrance. Free on-site parking and valet services are available.
