Inova Loudoun Hospital Offering Screenings and Assessments for Stroke Awareness Month (May)

In observance of Stroke Awareness Month, Inova Loudoun Hospital is offering FREE blood pressure checks and stroke risk assessments on Tuesday, May 31 from 11 a.m. –2 p.m. The public is encouraged to stop by Inova Loudoun Hospital, Cafeteria Alcove, 44045 Riverside Parkway, Leesburg. Also on May 31, the public is invited to a free stroke lecture by Dr. Edward Puccio, Medical Director, Department of Emergency Medicine, Inova Loudoun Hospital. Dr. Puccio will speak about stroke, prevention, signs, symptoms and available treatments from2 – 3 p.m. in the Patient Education Room on the second floor.
Since time is critical in stroke treatment, recognizing the signs of a stroke can save a life. The faster a stroke patient gets to the emergency room, the better chance for a positive outcome.

Stroke occurs when a blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is blocked.
