Insane Ink Celebrates Ten Years

Parlor is the oldest tattoo business within the town

Insane Ink, Leesburg's oldest tattoo parlor, will celebrate its tenth anniversary on March 1.

Manager Sherry Hayworth, who has been with the shop since day one, said it's a great feeling to know that the parlor has been in the town so long.

“It's awesome,” Hayworth said. “I mean things are a little slow with the recession and everything but we're doing good. Business is good.”

Hayworth, who has 25 tattoos of her own, said the best part of her job is that she gets to create something new everyday.

Hayworth is one of three tattoo artists that the parlor has to offer. There is also a piercer on hand, owner Sharon Spinelli.

Each person is certified by the Red Cross and is licensed by the state. Together, each artist brings about 20 years experience to the business.

“All the artists have such a passion [for what they do] and you can tell by the people who keep coming back,” said front desk employee Darleen Collins. “We are high quality, we are very clean and you can see that when you come in.”

Both Collins and Hayworth said they wouldn't have been able to make it to ten years if it wasn't for their customers, who were invited to Insane Ink's anniversary party last Saturday.

The event was held at Sal's New York Bar & Grille where the Backseat Betty's, a friend of Insane Ink, performed.

“It was great. It was quite crowded and we had a lot of support,” Collins said. “We just had a really good time.”

Collins said she looks forward to the future of Insane Ink and hopes for more growth as it continues to serve the local area.

“Ten years in any business is always going to be a milestone,” Hayworth added. “Another ten years would be great. We like to just want to keep our customers happy and keep putting out some great artwork.”
