KKK Recruitment Fliers Found Again In Loudoun On MLK Weekend
The KKK recruitment fliers are similar to ones found by Loudoun County residents during previous MLK holiday weekends.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — For the third year in a row, residents of Loudoun County found Ku Klux Klan recruitment fliers in their driveways in the days leading up to the holiday for Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office confirmed Tuesday that the fliers were similar to KKK fliers found by Loudoun residents during previous King holiday weekends.
Residents of Lovettsville, Luckets and Hillsboro found the KKK fliers in plastic bags containing birdseed. The fliers in Lovettsville and Lucketts were found Friday. The sheriff's office said the fliers are believed to have been left overnight. Additional fliers were found in Hillsboro on Saturday and are also believed to have been distributed either Thursday night or early Friday morning.
The sheriff's office said there is no indication any of the households who received the fliers were targeted.

Over the Martin Luther King holiday weekend in January 2019, KKK recruitment fliers were distributed around North King Street in Leesburg. Similar fliers were found at homes along Route 9 from Paeonian Springs to the West Virginia state line. Last year, the sheriff's office said the fliers distributed were done purposefully to coincide with the holiday celebrating King's birthday.
In January 2018, residents in the Leesburg, Purcellville and Round Hill areas of Loudoun found the KKK recruitment fliers with small bags of candy instead of birdseed.

Similar candy incidents happened in 2017 in Texas. Tucked inside the plastic bags of candy was a message written in bold black letters from the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan that read: "Help save our race! Join the best or die like the rest" and "Say No To Cultural Genocide."
Detectives with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office canvassed the areas and have been in contact with regional and federal law enforcement about the distribution of the KKK materials. The sheriff's office is asking anyone who received one of the fliers and has not already talked with a deputy to call the office at 703-777-1021.
