Leesburg Area Restaurant Inspections: Violations At 7 Locations
The Loudoun County Health Department found several violations during recent inspections in Leesburg, Purcellville, and Lovettsville.
LEESBURG, VA — Officials from the Loudoun County Health Department inspected multiple restaurants across the Leesburg area from July 7 to July 13, including locations in Purcellville and Lovettsville.
Both of the recorded violations came from follow-up inspections, the health department said.
As coronavirus restrictions continue to loosen around the state, health inspectors are returning to conduct restaurant inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.
Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department also performs a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

- EHS observed 15 vacuum packaged raw steaks, (no label) in the reach in freezer that the person-in-charge vacuum sealed their self. The person-in-charge showed the EHS where the vacuum sealer machine and bags are stored in the back of the kitchen. The person-in-charge stated that the raw steaks were sealed on Monday, July 5th, 2021.
- The nonfood-contact surface of the reach-in sandwich cooler is not cleaned at an appropriate frequency. EHS observed water with food waste in the bottom of the cooler. Some food waste had blue and black fuzzy spots.
- EHS observed grease all over the wall behind the oven.

- Employees were observed going from prep kitchen to walk-in cooler, which is located out back of the facility, while wearing gloves and continued wearing the same gloves upon re-entering the prep kitchen.
- The handwashing sink in dish machine area has no hand washing signage.
- The hand washing sink in the cooking area was observed with the water cut off and drain line disconnected.
- Soiled single-use gloves in use by a food employee. Employee was observed handing dirty dishes, loading the dish machine then handling the clean dishes once the dish machine finished the cycle.
- The potato wedger was observed with a heavy accumulation of dried food debris on it.
- Numerous foods were observed with internal temperatures above 41° while cold holding in walk-in cooler and at single door reach in cooler.
- The outside door to the dish room was observed left wide open which aloud flies to enter clean dishware area.
- Several broken floor tiles were observed in the kitchen.
