Leesburg Health Inspections: Hunan Cafe, More Better Restaurant
The Loudoun County Health Department recorded violations at several facilities around Leesburg during recent inspections.
LEESBURG, VA — The Loudoun County Health Department recorded violations at several Leesburg area restaurants during inspections from Sept. 21 to Sept. 27.
Most COVID-19 restrictions around the state have relaxed, so health inspectors are returning to conduct some restaurant inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.
Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department can also perform a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection.

- Date inspected: Sept. 23
- Total violations: 1
- There was no verifiable means that employees have been trained on the signs, symptoms, and exposure of foodborne illnesses and who to report to.
- Hunan Cafe, 414 Sycolin Rd SE Leesburg, VA 20175
- Date inspected: Sept. 26
- Total violations: 11
- Observed large container of rice in dry storage area with no cover.
- Observed knives hanging with food and debris. the scoop used for flour had a large build up of caked on flour on the handle and the scoop.
- Observed wontons 58F in top portion of prep cooler 2.
- Observed many fried chicken (nugget sized) individually portions in small black containers that had been made earlier cooler in prep cooler 2.
- Observed food employee dropped paper bag on floor and pick the bag up and placed on plastic utensils.
- Observed in the walk in cooler cabbage, napa cabbage, and celery in vegetable boxes on the floor. In the walk in freezer a variety of foods are on the floor.
- Observed the use grocery bags wrapping food items store in the walk in freezer.
- Observed cutting board at prep cooler 1 with heavy scratches and scarring.
- Observed the wall of the walk in cooler and walk in freezer with a build of soil and debris.
- Observed area near slicer and wire racks (storage area) in need of cleaning there was flour and rice on the floor.
- Observed grease dripping below vents and dripping on the metal partition in between hoods.

- Observed: potato salad, made previous day, in walk-in, needs: labeled and date made or use-by date.
- More Better Restaurant, 35246 Harry Byrd Highway #140 Round Hill, VA 20141
- Date inspected: Sept. 27
- Total violations: 5
- No supervisors or managers are certified food protection managers.
- Low temperature bar dish machine (closest to kitchen) is not delivering any chlorine for sanitizing glassware.
- Ribeye steak does not have an asterisk on the menu item that coincides with the disclosure on the menu indicating that it is offered undercooked.
- There was no temperature measuring device located inside (at the warmest location: the entrance) of the outdoor located walk-in refrigerator.
- Observed: Multiple flies observed within kitchen facility.
